There is nothing like the perfect flannel in December.

For a few years now, my family has been doing a gift swap. This is especially hard to get a gift for because there are so many different types of people. I take one of two approaches:
1. Try to find a generic gift that everyone will like.
2. Get something that a few will love.
Number one is pretty difficult and ends up just being a bland item for the home that no one is even that crazy about. This year I’m taking the second approach, not sure what I’ll get yet but here are my ideas:
1. A manicure kit: one of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten.
2. Gender neutral cashmere scarf and mittens
3. Favorite Recipe+Ingredients, great personalized gift idea
4. Necklace (or jewelry): for the girls in the group
5. Favorite book to pass along, maybe add a bookmark as a cute set
6. Scent Set: I love the delicious scents by Philosophy, they make such great gift sets too!
7. iTunes gift card- never go wrong
It’s all about not catching the wind

For the boyfriend…
The trick to getting your man to dress how you want is gifting him with pieces that will always go together. Give yourself the gift of a well-dressed guy.
Tips for gifts he’ll be surprisingly pleased with:
1. A video game…boys never grow up.
2. Massage-make that a couples massage and tag along on the relaxation.
3. Play to his strengths-if he’s a musician, surprise him with something that will enhance his hobby. Is he into sports? Buy two tickets to his favorite team’s big game.
Last year I teased my boyfriend about this gift idea for my family’s annual Christmas gift swap. “Nobody wants that, they’d never use it.”
I definitely shut up when his was the most sought after and swapped gift at the party (My Uncle snagged it as the last swap of the night).
This gorgeous (and inexpensive at $30) cooler is a great gift for a parent or anyone who does a lot of event hosting, especially poolside parties.
PS-It looks most beautiful when filled with sangria!
